Find a Plumber

To find a good plumber can be difficult but not impossible. It helps to ask relatives and friends if they have used a local plumber in the past, who they employed and how they felt about the work done. Also, local phone books and the better business bureau can help locate a competent plumber.
Credentials of plumbers are important. A potential client wants to make sure the plumbing contractor they hire is a licensed plumber and that any company employed is run by a master plumber. These plumbers have journeyman experience and have passed certain requirements to hold a master plumbing license and therefore have earned the privilege of practicing within their own plumbing company and working as a plumbing consultant. Journeyman plumbers as an apprentice and have completed theory and practical experience requirements set by the National Plumber Association and state and local guidelines. Journeymen plumbers work for companies for a certain amount of years gaining experience before becoming master plumbers. Apprentice plumbers work under the supervision of journeymen and master plumbers as assistants offering plumbing help while learning their trade.
All plumbing companies must be licensed and insured before being hired to work. Written estimates of work to be done and cost are essential in order to obtain the best plumbing services. This estimate includes repair or replacement costs as well as hourly wages and proposed work to be done and schedule. A schedule of how long potential plumbing jobs could take should also be on the contract. The contract should also state what deposit, if any, needs to be put down and the remaining balance.
